“Who is in Your Family?”  Previsualization Exercise

Part I: Answer the following questions.
    1.  What is a family?

  1. Who is in your family? You may include pets, friends, neighbors, extended family
  1. What do the members of you family do?
  1. How do you feel about your family members as a whole? Why?
  1. Who do you feel closest to? Why?
  1. Who makes you mad? Why?
  1. Who do you depend on? Who do you take care of? Explain.
  1. What is the best thing about your family? What do you wish was different? Why?
  1. How can you make pictures that tell a story about your family without photographing your actual family members?
  1. How can you, as the photographer, include yourself in a family photograph?

Part 2:            Make a list of ideas for photographs suggested by your writing (photographs you can make at home), and consider ways to frame each center of interest and the relevant details. In other words, if you photograph your favorite aunt, she must be the most prominent element in the picture, and the space around her must give us clues to who she is.
Create at least one horizontal and one vertical thumbnail sketch. Include
            notes describing details.
